Have a nice day

Woke up and switched on the news...

Hardly the Book of Revelation, but sufficient unto the day the evil thereof:
  • the United States Reserve Bank revised its forecasts yesterday, downwards... the Bank of England will do the same today... double-dip recession... inflation,,, stagflation... slowflation (?)... public services... unemployment...
  • NDM-1... a new bacterial superbug... going global... not just in hospitals, in communities too... worse than the last one... no resistance... only two antibiotics effective… new, innovative antibiotics desperately needed, none on horizon...
  • more rain is falling in Pakistan... new wave of floods sweepings southwards, Kashmir flodded too... mudslide in China... more heavt rain forecast there too... devastating heatwave and droughts in Russia... all part of global pattern... can only get worse...
Outside the window it rather looks a rather nice summer's day. None of this doom and gloom is anything to do with me. It could be a lot worse, surely. After all, no rogue asteroids are forecast and  my own country's wars are being waged far, far away, in someone else's.

Better get up and get on with the tiny concerns of my life. While I still have them. Enjoy yours. Have a nice day:
