ANOTHER REMEMBERED PLACE TO GO

British Embassy to move out of Harmincad utca
Too big and expensive

The British Embassy in Budapest may be a bit of a disturbed ants' nest today, as David Cameron is in town:

The Embassy will soon be even more extensively turned over:

I have quite a few memories of visiting the Embassy in Harmincad utca, mostly for tea with the Ambassador in the eighties (not universally fond memories). Many other Brits who were involved in CE in the eighties and into the nineties, will have their own memories of the Embassy, and its library, the consulate and social club.

Those were the days.

I do not suppose that I will ever need to hunt out the new premises in suburban Füge utca 5-7, just off Bimbó út where I once lived for a short period, but then I was not expecting ever to go back to the Hungarian Embassy in Eaton Place either:

Strange things do happen.
